Plant-microbe interactions
Many of my scientific projects seek to understand how plants and microbes interact to affect the diversity, abundance, and distribution of one another. My research addresses this question in multiple ecosystems, from tropical forests to grasslands, and across ecological scales, from genotypes to populations and communities. To do this, I use a combination of experimental, observational, genetic, and theoretical techniques.
Current & Past Projects:
- How the environment structures microbial communities in alpine meadows (Switzerland)
- How mutualism mediates disease in plant populations (Finland)
- How pathogen population structure affects disease in plant populations (Finland)
- Soil microbial community influence on tropical tree seedling recruitment (Panama)
